I keep getting palpitations. They feel like atrial or ventricular ectopics I think, but it's bothering me. It feels like my heart falls down to the bottom of my chest before bouncing back up again with two beats. I think I drank too much coffee today.

They're on about turning our ward into a diarrhoea cohort ward, which will completely suck. Who can get enthusiastic about coming in to work when all you have to look forward to is squirty bottoms and stinky smells? And it's not really fair on the house officer. Supposed to be going to a general medical ward only to find out it's been turned into the poop ward. That'll be rubbish for training. And just rubbish in general. Bah.

Mum and Dad coming this weekend! Yay yay! We're going to go to the Dr Who exhibition at Seacombe. The website said the Spaceport stuff is aimed at children aged 7 and over so hopefully they won't look at us strangely for being a group of adults going in... Also going to go for dinner at my consultant's restaurant. Good stuff.

Edit: Oh! I almost forgot one surreal moment on the ward today. Some dermatology doctors came to see a patient on the other side of the ward, and I honestly thought for a second someone had brought in a lifesize Barbie doll dressed up as an aubergine. The reg was this very tall, very skinny, extremely blonde possibly russian woman wearing a purple polo neck, purple tights and a teeny weeny purple skirt that barely covered her bum when she leaned over the bed. Who on earth told her that was appropriate attire for a doctor?! Naturally all the men were falling over themselves to point her in the right direction...
