Lost
Three on calls in four days leaves a person very tired.
I saw a young guy dying from acute liver failure over the weekend. Something had caused him to drink three litres of vodka with a paracetamol chaser (Tylenol, for anyone from over the pond). He spent three days vomiting blood, his liver swelled so much that it filled his belly (when it normally sits just under the ribs on the right hand side) and his blood clotting went down the drain. (For anyone to whom it means something, his aspartate transaminase went up to 20,000, bilirubin 220. Strangely didn't look that yellow). A mother lost her son; two little girls lost their father.
He had the loveliest eyelashes.
